Objectivity in journalism today is virtually dead. Opinion, bias and the greater “truth” now take precedent over facts and evidence. Yesterday, British author Melanie Phillips discussed with the Trumpet staff her experiences in journalism’s dramatic shift away from truth over the past several decades. On today’s show, we take a closer look at some of her comments and examine how truth and objectivity have been thrown out the window when it comes to reporting the news of the world.

In a lecture this week in Edmond, Oklahoma, British journalist Melanie Phillips spoke about the West’s failure to identify the source of many of the world’s problems, especially when it comes to disputes in the Middle East. “The whole basis of the way we look at it is wrong,” she said when speaking about the Isreali-Palestinian conflict. The real solution is to address the cause of the problem. “We have to stop the people trying to exterminate Israel,” she said. On today’s Trumpet Daily Radio Show, we examine Ms. Phillips’s comments and their importance for America, Britain and Israel.

America and Britain have both lost their sense of pride. Multiculturalism has become dogma in Britain—to the point where defending Britons is sacrificed for the sake of appearing tolerant. In America, building a wall to secure its southern border is viewed as immoral. Meanwhile, the U.S. government sets aside money in the budget to help nations in the Middle East secure their borders. They have enough sense to see that a secure border is important in other nations, but not at home. The intellectual community in both America and Britain view their nations as evil colonizers, and the rest of the world as well-meaning victims of colonial rule, and white culture. Why won’t the U.S. and Britain stand up for themselves? Find out on today’s Trumpet Daily Radio Show.

“The Republicans got rolled,” Charles Krauthammer said when the $1.1 trillion spending bill was made public yesterday. Despite having the majority in the House and Senate, Republicans made virtually no gain in getting funds for many of the projects President Donald Trump promised along the campaign trail. The bill was so bad for Republicans that Democrats were actually celebrating it. Many believed Trump would be the answer to America’s debt addiction, but it now looks like this an irreversible habit. For more on this and other stories, listen to today’s Trumpet Daily Radio Show.

“One country’s moral evangelism is the rest of the world’s intolerable smugness,” an opinion writer for Foreign Policy wrote this week. Germany believes that it alone knows best. After World War II, Germany—Western Germany, in particular—was humbled and subordinate to Western alliances. But Germany today is shunning that postwar posture. Where is this leading? Find out on today’s Trumpet Daily Radio Show.

Many people believe they are religious, but few actually take the time to learn what it is that makes one a Christian. A recent study found that while many Americans are fond of the Bible, few of them actually study it. It’s the same with prayer. One Christian website recently “challenged” its followers to pray 4 minutes each day for four weeks! What does God have to say about Bible study and prayer? Listen to today’s Trumpet Daily Radio Show to understand what it really means to put God first in our lives.
