Threat to Canada’s Democracy (29 minutes)
Last Friday, Ottawa’s police chief told Canadians, “If you were involved in this protest, we will actively look to identify you and follow up with financial sanctions and criminal charges.” Canada’s finance minister, Chrystia Freeland, intoned: “We will be putting forward measures to put those tools [such as freezing bank accounts] permanently in place.” Earlier today, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau told protesters, “You can’t hold a city hostage … block a critical trade corridor … deprive people of their jobs” or “attack journalists for reporting.” Yet this is exactly what the Trudeau government has done with its endless lockdown restrictions, vaccine mandates and authoritarian crackdowns.
Enes Kanter Freedom (10 minutes)
Basketball player Enes Kanter Freedom has been cut from the NBA for speaking out against China’s abuse of human rights.
