UK Police Arrest Two People for Suspected Terrorism Plot

Terrorism fears were heightened again in Britain on Thursday when police arrested two individuals on suspicion of plotting a terrorist attack.

A 24-year-old man was arrested in the town of Reading, and a 23-year-old woman in the town of Wokingham, both areas just west of London.

Earlier this month Scotland Yard said that more than 700 British extremists have traveled to Iraq and Syria to join the Islamic State. Scotland Yard Assistant Commissioner Mark Rowley said he believes half of these fighters could come back into the United Kingdom. He also noted that the Islamic State has tried to “provoke individuals in the UK to carry out violent attacks.”
