Prophecy Is the Proof of God

Bible prophecy proves correct every time. Prophecy is proof that God exists—and that He controls world events

During World War i, a man and his wife boarded a train and sat down. The woman counted aloud on one hand—one, two, three, four, five—over and over again. Some of the passengers began to laugh, so her husband stood up and explained, My wife and I have lost five sons in this war, and now I’m taking her to an insane asylum. The war had driven this woman mad.

Ten million people died in World War i. Sixty million died in World War ii! The Holy Bible prophesies that we will suffer through a third world war if we don’t learn some lessons.

A very famous lady in Bible prophecy had an even bigger problem than the woman I just described. Her name was Rachel. She had just two sons—Joseph and Benjamin—but died while giving birth to Benjamin. She only really knew Joseph, the father of Ephraim and Manasseh—the fathers of Britain and America today.

We must heed God’s warning to Britain and America to avoid the tragedies that these two women experienced! The woman in World War i lost five sons, yet Rachel’s tragedy is worse spiritually.

In Matthew 2:17-18, Matthew quotes the Prophet Jeremiah: “Thus saith the Lord; A voice was heard in Ramah, lamentation, and bitter weeping; Rahel weeping for her children refused to be comforted for her children, because they were not. … And there is hope in thine end …” (Jeremiah 31:15, 17). Here, Rahel (Rachel) weeps for her children—a whole race of people in multiple nations. The only way to find comfort in this prophecy is by understanding the hope. You need vision to see beyond the present.

What is this all about? Prophetically, the name Israel applies primarily to three end-time nations: Britain and America, as mentioned before, and the Jewish nation in the Middle East. Over 100 Bible prophecies trumpet the same warning as the one here in Jeremiah—a warning that revolves around the Second Coming of Jesus Christ!

Those who heed the warning and help deliver this message to all mankind will be protected from all the troubles and violent problems in the world today.

Right Every Time

Explaining to His disciples the end of this age, Jesus Christ said: “Had not those days been cut short, not a soul would be saved alive …” (Matthew 24:22; Moffatt). The Philips translation states: “Yes, if those days had not been cut short, no human being would survive.” New Living renders it this way: “In fact, unless that time of calamity is shortened, the entire human race will be destroyed.” The entire human race!

Christ delivered this prophecy nearly 2,000 years ago. It is about great nations and almost indescribable problems. It is about the threat of human extermination caused by humans. Nothing like this could have happened until the 20th century.

This prophecy is an irrefutable sign of God’s existence. Prophecy is the proof of God.

The biblical books of Daniel and Revelation are a framework of end-time prophecies. Just these two books tell us so much! “As the prophecies of Daniel were closed and sealed until this time of the end, so too were the prophecies of Revelation” (Herbert W. Armstrong College Bible Correspondence Course, Lesson 16). “Their meaning could not be understood until the last days.” (Request my free booklet Daniel Unlocks Revelation for the essence of both prophetic books.)

Of course, Daniel and Revelation are not the only prophetic books. Prophecy is contained in dozens of biblical books. All Bible prophecy points to the Second Coming. All that is developing in the world—powerful nations with nuclear bombs, dictatorships, the rise of the Gentiles—revolves around Christ’s return.

Prophecy is the proof of God! Every single prophecy either has been or is being fulfilled. “Fulfilled prophecy is proof of the existence of God Almighty. It is proof of the divine inspiration of the Bible. It is proof that the Bible contains knowledge revealed from God that we could not otherwise discover or know. Isn’t it rational and even logical, then, to believe in the God who made His revelation known thousands of years in advance?” (ibid).

God has made hundreds of prophecies. If they were not accurate, the skeptics could say, Why, it’s all a fraud! But God proves right every time!

Why Punishment?

Why must all of the dark, black prophecies come upon us? Because God must build character in us! Without God’s character, a human being is dangerous. We are incomplete without God’s Holy Spirit combining with our human spirit. Only man, not the animals, can connect to the Spirit of God.

“Woe be unto the pastors that destroy and scatter the sheep of my pasture! saith the Lord. Therefore thus saith the Lord God of Israel against the pastors that feed my people; Ye have scattered my flock, and driven them away, and have not visited them: behold, I will visit upon you the evil of your doings, saith the Lord” (Jeremiah 23:1-2). Jeremiah addressed his book to Israel, even though he only personally went to Judah. Jeremiah’s message is for all Israel, including America, Britain and the Jewish state today. Ministers—even most of those in God’s own Church in this end time—have led the people astray!

“In his days Judah shall be saved, and Israel shall dwell safely: and this is his name whereby he shall be called, the Lord our righteousness” (verse 6). Humans have always used their weapons of war. The good news is that God will save mankind from nuclear annihilation.

“Mine heart within me is broken because of the prophets; all my bones shake; I am like a drunken man, and like a man whom wine hath overcome, because of the Lord, and because of the words of his holiness” (verse 9). Just a vision of the coming trouble broke Jeremiah’s heart and caused him to tremble! Ministers ought to be proclaiming these prophecies of God.

“The anger of the Lord shall not return, until he have executed, and till he have performed the thoughts of his heart: in the latter days ye shall consider it perfectly [or, understand it thoroughly]” (verse 20). God is angry because of our sins! In this end time, we should be able to thoroughly understand Bible prophecy. Somebody is proclaiming it to the world.

“Am I a God at hand, saith the Lord, and not a God afar off?” (verse 23). God is right here, yet to most people He is far away. Our sins separate us from Him! (Isaiah 59:2). God wants to be close to us, building His character in us so we can be born into His Family as His own sons! (Request my free book The God Family Vision to learn more about this marvelous future.) Bible prophecy brings us close to God in a spectacular way.

“Is not my word like as a fire? saith the Lord; and like a hammer that breaketh the rock in pieces?” (Jeremiah 23:29). What a powerful warning! Prophecy burns up the spiritual chaff and beats down all the false religious messages.

“All ye beasts of the field, come to devour, yea, all ye beasts in the forest. His watchmen are blind: they are all ignorant, they are all dumb dogs, they cannot bark; sleeping, lying down, loving to slumber” (Isaiah 56:9-10). Imagine beasts surrounding your house to devour you, yet your watchdogs won’t bark because they are asleep! Our enemies surround us today, yet the ministers do not warn. They are as useless as dumb dogs. God says so.

You cannot trust any man (Jeremiah 17:5, 9). Trust God only. He commands us to warn of the coming punishment. Our people could stop it if they would just repent of their sins!

These prophecies are for “the time to come,” or the latter days (Isaiah 30:8)—for “the end” (Habakkuk 2:3). Much of Bible prophecy is dual—it applies both to spiritual Israel (God’s Church) and to physical Israel (America and Britain primarily).

“Therefore, behold, I will proceed to do a marvellous work among this people, even a marvellous work and a wonder: for the wisdom of their wise men shall perish, and the understanding of their prudent men shall be hid” (Isaiah 29:14). This marvelous work and a wonder is already here. It will usher in the Second Coming of Jesus Christ!

“Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things, speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits” (Isaiah 30:10). People want to hear smooth things. They even say, Prophesy deceits! It’s OK—twist it around! God will never reveal truth to a person with that attitude.

“Get you out of the way, turn aside out of the path, cause the Holy One of Israel to cease from before us” (verse 11). In this end time, God’s own people pushed Him right out of the Church! Our nations have rejected God too.

“Therefore this iniquity shall be to you as a breach ready to fall, swelling out in a high wall, whose breaking cometh suddenly at an instant” (verse 13). Our national sins are overflowing. Israel will break in an instant. God is a God of mercy and judgment (verse 18).

In the World Tomorrow, God’s teachers will lead all mankind, showing them where they are wrong so they may change. Christ and His very elect are preparing for that future now by warning the world.
