France Pulls Away From America and Moves Toward China
It is in the European Union’s best interest to work with China independently of the United States, French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire said at the World Economic Forum on January 20.
- Le Maire told Bloomberg journalist Francine Lacqua that Europe has a different way of dealing with China than the U.S.
The U.S. wants to oppose China; we want to engage China. I strongly believe that in the world game, China must be in; China cannot be out.
—Bruno Le Maire
- French President Emmanuel Macron plans to visit China in the coming months to discuss energy and trade with Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping.
‘Too soft’: France recognizes China as a political rival, but when it comes to trade and commerce, France sees that China could be a vital economic partner. This is what keeps it from being as confrontational as America. France is trying to balance politics and economy.
France is very much seen as too soft on China—at a time when the U.S. is clearly concerned that too many states on every continent are being suckered by China’s economic statecraft into positions where U.S. security alliances are likely to be endangered.

Prophecy says: This is an attitude Europe was prophesied to have toward China in our day. Isaiah 28 says that China is to become one of the main nations in a worldwide trade alliance. Verse 1 mentions “Tyre,” representing the economy of a European bloc, cooperating with “Chittim,” which is an ancient name referring to China. Israelite nations such as America and Britain, however, will not be part of this alliance and will be targeted by the Europeans and Asians.
The United States and Britain are going to be left out in the cold as two gigantic trade blocs, Europe and Asia, mesh together and begin calling the shots in world commerce. These nations of Israel are going to be literally besieged—economically frozen out of world trade!
