Illegal Chinese Biolab Discovered in California
An illegal, Chinese-run biolab recently discovered in California should be viewed as a “national scandal,” the Washington Examiner wrote on August 10, as more details continue to emerge about the facility. The lab was operating secretly in Reedley, California, and was discovered in March when code enforcement officers investigated a hose illegally attached to a warehouse.
Investigators discovered that one room of the warehouse was used to illegally produce covid-19 test and pregnancy tests. Other rooms contained vials of blood, tissue and other bodily fluid samples. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention detected at least 20 infectious diseases inside the lab, including coronavirus, hiv, hepatitis, malaria and herpes.
Health officials further discovered nearly 1,000 lab mice, 200 of which were dead.
“I’ve never seen anything like this in my 26-year career with the County of Fresno,” assistant director of the Fresno County Department of Public Health Joe Prado said. “[T]hey were doing some testing on laboratory mice that would help them support developing the covid test kits that they had on-site.”
An on-site representative from Prestige Biotech Inc (pbi), Wang Zhaolin, told investigators that mice were “genetically engineered to catch and carry the covid-19 virus.” pbi president Xiquin Yao reported that the mice held at the facility are worth “hundreds of thousands or even 1 million dollars” and that they “are a very precious variety that has been cultivated for seven years.”
Who was behind it? The Reedley facility was leased by Prestige Biotech Inc., a Chinese company registered in Nevada. According to Reedley city manager Nicole Zieba, Prestige Biotech had been “kicked out” of Canada and Texas before setting up in California.
China’s history of espionage and covert destabilizing tactics has raised suspicions that the biolab may be part of a strategy to weaken the United States. Gordon Chang, senior fellow at the Gatestone Institute, said such locations might be places where China could prepare a biological attack.
If there is a war in Asia, the first shot … will be when China is spreading pathogens around the United States to weaken our ability to respond to what happens in Asia. … I think that we have to be looking at Chinese-owned facilities around the U.S.

China is certainly becoming more powerful militarily, and China’s more secretive threats in areas such as bioengineering could also play a role in this dark new era.
