Guttenberg: The Return of the ‘Blond Bully’ Threatens World Peace
“Is Donald Trump a threat to world peace if he is reelected?” German talk show host Sandra Maischberger asked former Defense Minister Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg on November 14. Many in Germany fear United States President Donald Trump’s return, but few understand U.S. politics as well as Guttenberg, who repeatedly warns about the reemergence of the “blond bully.”
Following his resignation from politics in 2011, Guttenberg moved to the U.S. where he started a new career as a business adviser. During his years abroad, he formed many connections—among them, Peter Thiel, a key figure from Silicon Valley who helped pave Trump’s way to power. Back in Germany, Guttenberg’s insights about U.S. politics are greatly valued.
In conversation with Maischberger, Guttenberg warned that America’s weakened position in the world will cause escalating crises globally.
We have two conflicts or wars: Ukraine and Gaza. Both ensure that the Americans are doubly distracted. In addition, comes another distraction: We are already in an election campaign in the U.S.A. This plays into the hands of those who would like to see the U.S. as well as the West as weakened. … This could lead to a next step from China in areas that we don’t want to see.
—Karl-Theodore zu Guttenberg
Despite the precarious situation, he believes a Trump comeback could make things worse. “I believe that his chances are anything but slim,” Guttenberg told Maischberger. “Am I delighted about it? No.”
Germany is not prepared for the possibility that “the blond bully may once again be taking the reins into his hands,” he warned, and he urged German politicians to “start dealing with the U.S. Republicans again now and not wait until they stand there in shock and say: This guy has won again!”
“For world peace, it is for the following reason not undangerous,” he explained. “He will likely right away seek an agreement with Moscow—and proclaim that he has brought about world peace in Ukraine while stepping on their interests with his feet.”
Calling a temporary peace in Ukraine a threat to world peace seems paradoxical. But his warning is based on reason. Russian President Vladimir Putin has a long-term goal of resurrecting the Soviet empire, a pause in the Ukraine war could help him recuperate military strength.
But criticism of Trump is also hypocritical. Germany is the nation that made an “agreement with Moscow” that led to World War ii. And as Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry explains in “Germany’s Secret Deal With Russia—Exposed,” Germany has made another agreement with Russia, which led to the current Ukraine war.
But Guttenberg’s main concern appears to be a Trump comeback, stating:
It wouldn’t be a pleasure for us, because he is not a friend of the trans-Atlantic alliance. He is not a friend of the Germans; we saw that already. The chances are relatively high, because many Americans have their fist in their pocket, including Republicans, and say this is likely the greatest scumbag that we ever had in U.S. politics, that’s how it was told me personally. But he has done one thing: He delivered. He was one of the few that has implemented his, yes crude and crazy, promises. If someone likes it or not.
This is one of many warnings that Guttenberg has uttered about Trump since he ran for the presidency in 2016. Following Trump’s election victory, Guttenberg told Bild: “This is a result that shakes up the world.”
On multiple occasions, Guttenberg has called on Europe to become independent of the U.S. because of Trump. In 2019, he told Gerzo Media, “Let’s finally get to terms with things we should have done by ourselves already for decades. Let’s create a European structure for our armed forces and let’s create ideas for how to deal with our neighborhood without the U.S.”
Mr. Flurry picked up on Guttenberg’s fierce criticism of Donald Trump in 2017, writing:
And what is amazing is, Guttenberg went after American President Donald Trump—in a way a world leader never does to another leader in power! He called him “the violent madman in the White House.” In several public appearances lately, he has been fiercely critical and condemning of America’s president.
He is talking about a man who got over 60 million votes. Is he just criticizing one man? I believe what he is saying says a lot about his attitude toward America. …
Listening to Mr. Guttenberg and the way people are responding to him, I have to say that it looks like the relationship between the U.S. and Germany is already dead!
There is a political class in Germany that has longed for a European superstate independent from America as outlined by Franz-Josef Strauss in his book The Grand Design. The late Herbert W. Armstrong watched Strauss closely in light of key Bible prophecies that speak of a rising strongman who will lead this superpower. Strauss has since died, but he is seen as the father of the Christian Social Union; Guttenberg is from the same political family.
“Prophecy tells us in detail just what this strongman is going to do,” Mr. Flurry explained. “It also says that he can’t even imagine the damage he will wreak on America—but at a certain point, his mind is going to change. (Read about this in Chapter 2 of my booklet on the Prophet Habakkuk.) We are watching for that mind change. Perhaps, to some degree, it is already happening!”
Mr. Flurry alluded to a prophecy in Habakkuk 1:11 that parallels the prophecy in Isaiah 10, Daniel 8 and Revelation 17, which all warn about the rise of this prophesied strongman. Study these prophecies and you will see that Germany, or biblical Assyria, is prophesied to break from America, or biblical Israel. Therefore, the increasing German hatred for Donald Trump should not be overlooked.
