Trump Disqualified From 2024 Presidential Race in Colorado
The Colorado Supreme Court disqualified Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump from the 2024 presidential primary election in a ruling yesterday that sent shock waves throughout the political world. Many claim the ruling is unconstitutional.
Reaction: Trump’s campaign called the verdict “undemocratic.”
The Colorado Supreme Court issued a completely flawed decision tonight and we will swiftly file an appeal to the United States Supreme Court.

Fellow gop candidate Vivek Ramaswamy reacted by removing himself from Colorado’s ballot, saying he will not rejoin “unless and until Trump’s name is restored.” He called on other gop candidates to do the same.
gop runner-up Ron DeSantis said the Colorado court was “abusing power.” But he claimed the left was doing so to solidify support for Trump in the gop Primary. He reasoned Democrats want to face Trump so that President Biden can easily win reelection next year.
Chris Christie, arguably Trump’s greatest critic among gop candidates, spoke out against the ruling, saying, “I do not believe Donald Trump should be prevented from being president of the United States by any court.” Candidate Nikki Haley made similar comments.
The court’s argument: The 4-3 vote came as a result of an article by legal scholars William Baude and Michael Stokes Paulsen on the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment, Section 3, which states:
No person shall … hold any office, civil or military … who, having previously taken an oath, as a member of Congress, or as an officer of the United States, or as a member of any state legislature, or as an executive or judicial officer of any state, to support the Constitution of the United States, shall have engaged in insurrection or rebellion against the same, or given aid or comfort to the enemies thereof.
The purpose of the section was to stop Confederate politicians from ever taking office again. Baude and Paulsen said the Jan. 6, 2021, protest disqualified Trump from running for president.
The counterargument: Colorado’s ruling is unconstitutional (thoroughly explained here). In brief, there is no legal backing to the claim that Jan. 6, 2021, was an insurrection—not even Jack Smith’s election-interference indictment against the president deems it such.
Also, as stated in today’s Trumpet Morning Brief, “President Trump has not been found guilty of insurrection, so the ruling would mean that a group of judges can strike someone off the ballot on a whim.”
The result: The Supreme Court will likely overturn the Colorado court’s ruling for being unconstitutional.
In his free book America Under Attack, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry writes:
[W]e cannot overlook the statement in the prophecy of Amos 7 about the role of “the kingdom’s court.” The way this is written, this individual, Amaziah, is speaking on behalf of King Jeroboam [who represents President Trump], who has the support of “the king’s chapel” … and “the kingdom’s court”—the Supreme Court. This reference strongly suggests to me that the court will play a decisive role in returning Mr. Trump to the presidency.
