China Signs Largest Shipbuilding Deal Ever
China State Shipbuilding Corp. signed the largest shipbuilding deal in history with QatarEnergy on Monday. China will sell Qatar 18 liquefied natural gas ships of unprecedented size.
This landmark deal illustrates a shift in global power from the United States and United Kingdom to China. Historically, global superiority has depended on naval dominance. The fact that countries are looking to China in this area shows it is overtaking the English-speaking nations.
Details: The approximately $6 billion deal will create the largest liquefied natural gas ships in history—about 57 percent larger than the conventional 174,000-cubic-meter lng carriers.
Specifications of the new vessels:
- 271,000-cubit-meter capacity
- 344 meters long
- 53.6 meters wide
- 27.2 meters deep
China’s shipyards produce some 23,250,000 vessel tons, an astonishing 232 times greater than America’s estimated 100,000-ton capacity.
Global power shift: The Bible prophesied this shift in global power. The shipbuilding industry provides evidence of this shift. To learn more, read The United States and Britain in Prophecy, by Herbert W. Armstrong.
