Russia Practicing War in the Caribbean

Russia is preparing to deploy warships and combat aircraft to the Caribbean to conduct major military exercises in a region the United States depends on heavily for shipping, the Miami Herald reported on June 5.

• The drills will be Russia’s first in five years that involve both air and sea operations in the Western Hemisphere.
• They will likely begin in mid to late June.
• The exercises are expected to include Russian port calls in Cuba and Venezuela, both Russian allies.
• The Biden administration sees the drills as a Russian “message tactic” in response to permission Biden gave Ukraine last week to fire American-made weapons at military assets inside Russia.

A senior U.S. official told the Herald, “[This] is about Russia showing they are still capable of some level of naval power projection. … We should expect more of this activity going forward.”

Espionage: The Russian war games come shortly after the U.S. government declassified intelligence revealing that Russia’s top ally, China, has built an operational spy base in Cuba.

America endangered: Both Russia and China are strengthening their positions in Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela. These nations lie alongside vital U.S. shipping routes, so the expanding Russo-Chinese influence in these nations poses a threat to the American economy.

In March 2019, the Trumpet warned:

[A] foreign power that controls the Caribbean could cripple the U.S. economy by restricting its access to oceanic shipping.

This geographic reality is why Russia and China want to challenge U.S. dominance in the Caribbean. These aspiring superpowers are forging alliances with socialist governments in Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela. If these Latin dictatorships become staging grounds for Russia and China, a coalition of nations could potentially cut off U.S. access to the Panama Canal and seal off the Straits of Florida and the Yucatán Channel.

As astonishing as such an attack on the United States may sound, prophecies in Deuteronomy, Ezekiel and Isaiah reveal it will soon take place.
