“Biden’s High-Stakes Interview.” “Biden’s Attempt to Save His Campaign and Presidency.” Such were the headlines surrounding Friday’s 22-minute prime-time interview, Joe Biden’s first since his debate eight days earlier against Donald Trump. By sitting down with abc’s George Stephanopoulos, Biden thought he could somehow erase his obvious cognitive decline from the minds of the 51 million debate viewers.

False. Rather than reassuring rattled Democrats, this interview increased their alarm and frustration. It was another clear look at Joe Biden, and it was disturbing. If you haven’t seen it, it is worth 22 minutes of your time. It is a stunning picture of the disaster unfolding at the highest levels of American government.

Stephanopoulos pressed Joe Biden on his mental fitness for four more years as president. Biden insisted he was fine. Stephanopoulos pointed to surveys showing broad public skepticism. Biden said he didn’t believe the numbers. When showed polls in which he now trails Trump, Biden dismissed them. He said people also counted him out four years ago, yet he still won.

Biden has been living in a world of lies for so long, he apparently believes his own lies. He thinks the public loves and reveres him. He is convinced his economics, domestic policy and foreign policy have been unmitigated successes. “I’m the guy that put nato together …. I’m the guy that shut Putin down. … I’m the guy that put together a South Pacific initiative with aukus. I’m the guy that got 50 nations … to help Ukraine. I’m the guy that got Japanese to expand their budget,” he boasted to Stephanopoulos.

Biden has been ensconced in the Washington, D.C., “swamp” since 1973. For years now, he has been willing to say and do anything to advance his own interests. This has made him vulnerable to corruption. Enemies of America, both foreign and domestic, have used him for their own purposes. He has progressively grown surrounded by opportunists, flatterers, liars and deceivers bereft of moral restrictions—people who tell him what to do and then assure him he’s doing a bang-up job.

Joe Biden proved to be the perfect puppet to continue the fundamental transformation of America started by Barack Obama.

Now this charade has been exposed. Biden’s incapacity is obvious. It is clear he would lose to Trump. With the election weeks away, Democrats are desperate for him to go.

But suddenly, he has decided he isn’t taking orders. He and his family are digging in. He has the delegates he needs to secure the Democrat nomination, and he says he has no plans to give them up. “If the Lord Almighty came down and said, ‘Joe, get outta the race,’ I’d get outta the race,” he told Stephanopoulos. “The Lord Almighty’s not comin’ down.”

But what if you lose to Trump? he was asked. His extraordinary response: He’s willing to lose “as long as I gave it my all and I did the goodest job as I know I can do. That’s what this is about.” For Biden, it’s all about Biden.

The journalists, politicians and others who have covered for this man for years are getting a bitter taste of how dangerous their unprincipled behavior is. They created this Frankenstein monster. Now they are watching him choke to death their hold on power.

It is beyond stunning that such a man could be propelled to the nation’s highest office, by hook or by crook. Joe Biden has long exhibited the qualities that are so exasperating Democrats at this moment: imperviousness to self-reflection, to honest criticism, to learning from failure; absence of self-awareness; presence of monumental vanity. These things are not new. In his unsuccessful run for president 16 years ago, Biden insisted he alone could “save the world.” Now he’s “running the world,” as he told Stephanopoulos. America’s power in the world is cratering, and he still fancies himself the only man who can do the job.

“How many people draw crowds like I did today?” Biden asked an incredulous Stephanopoulos, apparently clueless that the first thing everyone would think of is the small rooms of people at Biden events contrasted against the arenas full of cheering Trump supporters.

Even if others somehow convince Biden to step aside, or if he has a “stroke,” or if he follows through on his promise four years ago to “develop some disease and say I have to resign,” the next in line behind him is a woman whose public approval rating is even lower than his. Importantly, she was initially Barack Obama’s choice as his successor, but she proved catastrophically unpopular in the 2020 Democratic primaries and Obama switched to supporting—and controlling—Biden. The more this woman talks, the less that Americans will be able to stomach the idea of her becoming the most powerful person in the nation and the world.

The leftists, Obama in particular, are being exposed. All of them thought “the Lord Almighty’s not comin’ down.” They were sure they could get away with their crimes indefinitely. Now their deceptions are returning to haunt them. The consequences of their chicanery are biting. Their grip on power is slipping. They are running out of aces to draw from their sleeves and rabbits to pull from their hats. And they are growing increasingly desperate as they face the prospect not just of defeat but of reckoning—of being brought to justice for their crimes.

All is unfolding with the exquisite irony of an implausible movie script. And as much as Republicans may relish these developments, it is crucial that we recognize the grander forces at work.

Put crudely, God is rubbing the noses of these people in their own filth.

Yet these people seem to be learning nothing. It is growing clearer and clearer that they will lose power, just as Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has asserted for 3½ years now. The question is not whether they will repent so much as how rabid their destructive reaction will get.

This nation has suffered immeasurably, and in some ways irreversibly, at the hand of these frauds. Why has God allowed it? Because He is cursing this nation for its sins. The corrupt political class, the sycophantic media, the complicit business class—the economic decline, the political polarization, the loss of civic cohesion—these are curses, allowed or directly imposed by God on a materialistic, vain, selfish, rebellious people.

Donald Trump’s presence in the plot is bringing it all to the surface. But we must acknowledge that even his return to the presidency—which is now more obviously certain—will not reverse the nation’s underlying moral and spiritual slide.

Only true repentance can truly turn these curses into blessings for America.

The reality is, the Lord Almighty is coming down. The day of reckoning is approaching for all of us.

Democrats are beside themselves because Joe Biden is so stubbornly maintaining course to the inevitable doom of himself and his party. But will America itself make the same mistake, failing to recognize its ungodly trajectory and to repent?
