Germany Looks to Shed Nuclear Restraints
Germany must “pull out of the Two Plus Four Treaty” to remove major obstacles in the way of nuclear armament, Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung wrote on March 24.
- The Two Plus Four Treaty, finalized in September 1990, paved the way for the reunification of Germany after being divided at the end of World War ii.
- The treaty prohibits Germany from obtaining nuclear, biological and chemical weapons.
- It bans the German Army from having more than 370,000 personnel.
Withdrawing from the treaty is a major stride toward gaining nuclear weapons and eliminating restrictions on military personnel numbers.
Nuclear power in waiting: Germany used nuclear energy for civilian purposes until it shuttered its nuclear plants in 2023. It could quickly mobilize the necessary technological capabilities to produce its own nuclear weapons. Germany-Foreign-Policy.com reported:
[E]xperts believe that the technological capabilities for producing its own nuclear weapons could be mobilized within a fairly short period of time. All the experts agree that the technology and know-how required for uranium enrichment already exists at the Jülich and Gronau research centers.
Where is it leading? The Bible prophesies of a German military superpower that will play a key role in a catastrophic global war. That is why the Trumpet closely watches as Germany works to unshackle itself from nuclear restrictions and rearm.
