Poll: Americans Fear ‘the Country Is Spiraling Out of Control’
Americans fear their country is spiraling out of control after the attempted assassination of former United States President Donald Trump on Saturday, an exclusive Reuters-Ipsos poll found.
Out of control: The poll surveyed 1,202 adults, including 992 registered voters, over the nation across two days.
- 80 percent of Democrats and Republicans agreed that “the country is spiraling out of control.”
- 84 percent of voters have concerns that extremist groups will commit violent acts after the November 5 election, an increase of 10 percent from May.
- 5 percent believe committing violent acts to achieve a political goal is acceptable—down from 12 percent in a June 2023 Reuters-Ipsos poll.
- 65 percent of registered Republicans said Trump’s survival was “favored by divine providence or God’s will”; 11 percent of Democrats agreed.
America was literally millimeters away from civil war on Saturday when a bullet grazed Trump’s ear. This near-disastrous event has made it undeniable that God has a special interest in what’s happening in the U.S. right now.
Temporary stability: Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote in the July-August issue of the Royal Vision:
People are concerned about and frightened by America’s affliction. But God tells His people not to fear. He forewarns us exactly what is going to happen. … God is going to save Israel temporarily through a modern-day Jeroboam. That man is Donald Trump. He is coming back. Of course, he has some serious sins and problems; it isn’t because of his righteousness that God is using him. But Mr. Trump is going to receive the opportunity to restore some stability to America, for a short time.
