Did Kamala Harris Win the Presidential Debate?

Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Kamala Harris faced off in a contentious presidential debate Tuesday night in what many are saying was a victory for Harris.

  • Politico headlined “Harris Won the Debate—and It Wasn’t Close.”
  • The New York Times wrote, “In Debate With Trump, Harris’s Expressions Were a Weapon.”
  • The Washington Post: “Harris Crisply Attacks Trump in Debate; He Retorts With Fiery Rhetoric.”
  • Reuters stated, “Harris Puts Trump on Defensive in Combative Debate.”

According to the reports, Harris’s performance and prosecutorial personality shone as a beacon of hope for the Democrats, in contrast to Joe Biden’s disastrous debate with Trump back in June.

Americans better off? To begin the debate, abc News moderator David Muir asked Harris since she has been serving as vice president, “When it comes to the economy, do you believe Americans are better off than they were four years ago?”

Harris did not answer the question; she instead stated her plan to build “an opportunity economy.”

Fact-checkers: During the debate President Trump was repeatedly interrupted and fact-checked at least five times by moderators, while Harris was not fact-checked.

My best debate’: Nevertheless, President Trump said it was his “best debate ever.” He added that “the moderators were very unfair,” but said, “I actually thought they were just average.”

It was obviously 3-on-1, but I think we did great.
