Supreme Court Upholds Election Security
The United States Supreme Court decided on Wednesday to allow Virginia to purge noncitizens from its voter rolls.
Details: Noncitizens are not legally allowed to vote in U.S. elections, but data from Just the Facts shows that 2 million to 5 million noncitizens are registered to vote in Tuesday’s elections.
Virginia worked to combat this by announcing the removal of around 1,600 alleged noncitizens from its voter rolls on August 7.
- The Justice Department claimed Virginia violated the Quiet Period Provision of the National Voter Registration Act, which prevents states from purging voter rolls within 90 days of an election.
- Virginia’s governor said the action was justified because, though August 7 was 90 days before the election, this process began prior.
- The Supreme Court approved Virginia’s purge by a vote of 6-3.
Prophetic perspective: The Bible prophesies that Donald Trump will “war” to recover the presidency, and it even suggests that the Supreme Court will be a major ally in this struggle.
