Supreme Court Upholds Election Security
The United States Supreme Court decided on Wednesday to allow Virginia to purge noncitizens from its voter rolls.
Details: Noncitizens are not legally allowed to vote in U.S. elections, but data from Just the Facts shows that 2 million to 5 million noncitizens are registered to vote in Tuesday’s elections.
Virginia worked to combat this by announcing the removal of around 1,600 alleged noncitizens from its voter rolls on August 7. The Justice Department claimed Virginia violated the Quiet Period Provision of the National Voter Registration Act, which prevents states from purging voter rolls within 90 days of an election.
Virginia’s governor claimed the action was justified because, though August 7 was 90 days before the election, this process began prior.
- The Supreme Court approved Virginia’s purge by a vote of 6-3.
Prophetic perspective: The Bible prophesies that Donald Trump will “war” to recover the presidency, and it even specifies that the Supreme Court will be a major ally in this struggle.
