China Increases Space Military Capabilities at ‘Mind-Boggling’ Speed

China is boosting its space military capabilities at a “mind-boggling” pace, Gen. Chance Saltzman, head of the United States Space Force, said on Friday.

Why it matters: China is a threat to American dominance. Its increased weapons capabilities raise the risk of war in space.

The U.S. military relies heavily on its satellites, far more than any other nation. If any were destroyed in war, it could be catastrophic to the U.S.

Details: During a European tour, Saltzman said one of the main reasons former President Donald Trump established Space Force in 2019 was because Russia and China “developed and demonstrated the ability to conduct war fighting in space.”
