FBI Director to Resign Before Trump’s Inauguration

Fbi Director Christopher Wray announced on Wednesday that he will resign before Donald Trump’s inauguration, “after weeks of careful thought.”

Trump called it “a great day for America as it will end the weaponization of what has become known as the United States Department of Injustice.”

In my view, this is the best way to avoid dragging the Bureau deeper into the fray, while reinforcing the values and principles that are so important to how we do our work.

A letdown: Trump fired fbi Director James Comey in 2017 after he refused to end the Russian collusion investigation. Wray replaced him, but the fbi’s agenda to politically assassinate Trump didn’t end.

“Under the leadership of Christopher Wray, the fbi illegally raided my home, without cause, worked diligently on illegally impeaching and indicting me, and has done everything else to interfere with the success and future of America,” Trump posted on X. “I can’t say I’m thrilled with him,” he told nbc News.

Successor: Earlier this month, Trump nominated Kash Patel for fbi director in his new administration, even though the position was not yet vacant. It was an obvious message to Wray that if he didn’t step down, he would be fired.

Patel said, “We look forward to a very smooth transition at the fbi, and I’ll be ready to go on day one.”

Donald Trump continues to clean out the “deep state,” carefully choosing the members of his government so they can hit the ground running on January 20.
