NY Resident Pleads Guilty to Operating a Secret Overseas Police Station for China

New York resident Chen Jinping pleaded guilty to acting as an agent for the People’s Republic of China by operating an illegal overseas police station in lower Manhattan, the United States Department of Justice announced on Wednesday.

The secret police station was found in 2022 after an fbi search and was closed soon after. Chen and another defendant, Lu Jianwang, both U.S. citizens, were arrested on April 17, 2023.

China has publicly denied that there are any “secret police stations.”

Multiple states: Robert Wells, executive assistant director of the fbi’s National Security Branch, said the station was an attempt to “threaten, harass and intimidate those who speak against their Communist Party.”

  • China has at least 54 “overseas police service stations” in 30 different countries, according to a September 2022 report by Safeguard Defenders, a nongovernmental organization based in Spain.
  • The report also claimed that a number of host countries are silently complicit in these illegal activities.
  • Similar illegal police stations were found in nations across Africa, Asia, Europe and North and South America.

The U.S. “will continue to pursue anyone who attempts to aid the prc’s efforts to extend their repressive reach into the United States,” said Assistant Attorney General Matthew G. Olsen on Wednesday.

Prophetic perspective: The Bible prophesies of the “time of the Gentiles,” a period when China, among other nations, will grow in power and might on the world stage and use that power to police, control and exploit as many people as possible.
