China’s Military Buildup Likened to 1930s Germany
China is leading the world’s largest military buildup since 1930s Germany, according to an article published Friday by United States Army Lt. Col. Chuck DeVore (Ret.).
Details: DeVore’s piece, published by the Federalist, cites the Department of Defense’s 2024 China Military Power Report, which says China has increased its arsenal substantially this year. It has added:
- 300 medium-range ballistic missiles
- 100 long-range cruise missiles
- 50 intercontinental ballistic missiles, bringing its total to 400
Beijing has more than 600 operational nuclear warheads and is on track to have over 1,000 by 2030. China has the largest arsenal of hypersonic missiles, which “are capable of evading U.S. missile defenses and targeting Guam, Hawaii and Alaska,” according to DeVore.
The Chinese Navy is the largest in the world, and China is expected to increase its naval vessels from 370 to 435 by 2030.
China is also developing cognitive domain operations, an advanced type of psychological warfare.
United States: Amid all this, the U.S. spent $5.4 trillion on futile nation building and fighting terror. DeVore said the U.S. needed to focus more on China, lest it fall irredeemably behind.
The main reason behind China’s massive militarization is to compete with the U.S. in the Indo-Pacific region.
Navies are much more difficult to build up. And we are way behind. And not only do we need to catch up, but we also need to modernize our nuclear weapons, and we need to put a lot of effort into missile defense.

Prophesied rise: The Bible prophesies that China will soon become a world superpower, far surpassing the U.S. in military might.
