Illegal Border Crossings Plummet One Week Into Trump Presidency

Now that President Donald Trump has sent troops to the United States-Mexico border, illegal crossings appear to have plummeted to historic lows.

Government sources reported to Fox News that only 582 illegal immigrants trying to cross the southern border were encountered on January 26. The average number of immigrants encountered during the Biden administration was 6,501 per day.

This means illegal border crossings have dropped to 9 percent of the Biden-era average. The last time border crossings were this low was April 2020, when the covid-19 pandemic broke out.

Border security: The first two promises the Republican Party made to the American people in its 2024 Republican Party Platform were:

  • Seal the border
  • Carry out the largest deportation operation in American history

President Trump is keeping both of these promises. Illegal border crossings have fallen 91 percent, and Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials have arrested nearly 2,500 criminal immigrants. A few dozen have already been deported.

Resistance: President Trump’s quest to “carry out the largest deportation operation in American history” will not be easy. A viral video distributed by Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Milwaukee’s Refugee and Immigration Services Program is teaching illegal immigrants how to avoid arrests.

The Roman Catholic Church may emerge as a major force opposing President Trump’s plan. Some 59 percent of Catholic voters cast a ballot for Trump, but many are anti-deportation.

Economic siege: Deuteronomy 28:52 prophesies that if America turns away from God’s law, it will be besieged in all its gates until its “high and fenced walls come down.”

In “Where America’s Race Riots Are Leading,” Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry noted: “This is talking about a virtually open border where foreigners flood into the land. Illegal immigrants are streaming over the Mexican border in droves—and that is clearly the way some of our leaders want it.”

Donald Trump’s presidency is reversing the flood of illegal immigrants in America, but a virtually open border will return if Americans reject this chance to repent of their sins and turn this country around.
