Five Injured in Amsterdam Knife Attack

Five people were injured when a man began stabbing people on a popular tourist street in central Amsterdam on Thursday afternoon.

The victims include an elderly woman and several foreign nationals, two of which are American. They were all taken to the hospital.

The attack: The attack near Amsterdam’s central Dam Square lasted several minutes. It was stopped when a bystander allegedly kicked the assailant and broke his ankle. Others tackled him to the ground. The attacker was arrested by police and taken to the hospital.

Dutch police are investigating the motive of the attack, but they believe the man targeted his victims at random.
