Obama reacts to Mubarak’s offer to step down

Yesterday, Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak said he would step down in September when Egypt holds its next presidential election. In swift response to the announcement, U.S. President Barack Obama said Mubarak’s offer did not go far enough. In a short speech at the White House last night, the president said the government transition in Egypt “must begin now.”
