Queensland’s state premier, Anna Bligh, said it. As two cyclones bore down on the coast of northeast Australia, hard on the heels of the devastating floods that the state of Queensland had experienced from late December through January, Premier Bligh declared, “We are looking not only at a potentially damaging cyclone but more very heavy rainfall which could fall into river catchments and cause further flooding beyond the cyclone. … As we contemplate what might lie ahead I think it would be easy to think that somebody up there has got a grudge against us, but frankly this is just what the weather in a tropical state does from time to time, and we have to be ready to cope with it.”

Well, yes. The weather in a tropical region can be devastating from time to time. But is there another, deeper message to be found in this confluence of three weather-related events slamming Australia in such rapid succession?

Anna Bligh is a bright woman. She has really shown her true mettle handling these extreme crises over the past month and more. For that she will be greatly admired by the typical Aussie who appreciates hardy stoicism in the face of adversity.

But the premier is also bright enough to know that there’s still a tendency in many Australians—though most might be loathe to admit it—to wonder at the prospect of a supernatural cause for the series of events such as that which eastern Australia has suffered since the close of 2010.

Perhaps Premier Bligh’s reference that “it would be easy to think that somebody up there” has a grudge against Queenslanders was a subconscious hearkening back to her Catholic upbringing. Yet her quickness to rationalize the situation away as just being part of the way things are “in a tropical state” was no doubt designed to display the pragmatism that she has been known for since her earliest days as an up-and-coming socialist student activist.

Be that as it may, it may well be that Bligh’s referral to the “somebody” having “a grudge against us” has a certain ring of truth about it to those educated in biblical understanding. But that truth is probably a far cry from what the premier’s subconscious led her to mention.

There is a spirit world. Some call it the paranormal, due to their ignorance of its true nature. In fact it is extremely normal in the very sense that it impacts human beings.

Herbert Armstrong described that power this way (Plain Truth, Oct/Nov 1980)

Satan the devil is real—he exists—he is super powerful—and he is “the prince of the power of the air” (Ephesians 2:2). He broadcasts! He surcharges the air with his attitude of selfishness, vanity, lust for power and greed, envy and jealousy, competition and strife, rebellion against God!It is not only that mankind—our human leaders—are only “half there” mentally—Satan has been injecting into every human from infancy his self-centered attitude! All we humans grow up saturated with it. It has become human nature!So it is not only a matter of what isn’t in our human minds (spiritual comprehension!), it is a matter of what is INhuman minds—what from infancy Satan has been injecting there—the self-centered attitude—that of competition, getting the best of others, “getting” instead of “giving”—taking from others!

In that true sense, “somebody” out there has “got a grudge against us”! (Revelation 12:10).

But there is a far more, in fact a supremely more, powerful being “up there,” far beyond the realm of Satan—who was cast from His midst (Ezekiel 28:16)—who does control things on this Earth (Daniel 4:17).

It is that supreme overarching Power that is bringing on those nations which bear the true heritage of ancient Israel in these modern times powerful correction because of their generations of rebellion against their very Maker!

Of these nations—believe it or not, the people who substantially comprise the British peoples, the peoples of the British dominions and the descendants of the people who originally colonized America—the Eternal God declares that He is right now bringing upon them the results of their rebellion in the form of increasing curses which He prophesied millennia ago that He would so do! (Deuteronomy 28:16). The extremes of adverse weather is a major factor in this.

Queensland’s triple-whammy weather phenomenon is having global consequences at a time when the world struggles to recover from the economic instability of the past two years.

“Cyclone Yasi pushed global commodity prices to record highs and will exact a heavy toll on the world economy and the state of Queensland, City analysts warned today.

“The price of sugar hit a 30-year high in New York as analysts warned that up to half the state’s crop this year could be destroyed by the cyclone. The cyclone also helped push copper and tin prices to a new high” (guardian.co.uk, February 2).

Queensland is a major global supplier of numerous mineral and agricultural products. In the wake of these weather curses many exports will be affected, placing a heavy burden on the cost of recovery as well as escalating world prices.

“Bananas are in peak season and growers fear a repeat of the aftermath of Cyclone Larry, which hit Queensland in 2006, resulting in a national shortage. Mangoes, pawpaw, lychees, macadamia nuts and strawberries are also grown in the region. The National Farmers Federation in Australia said in a statement to Reuters: ‘Losses will likely be catastrophic again.’

“Many coalmines in Queensland had already halted production because of the flooding. bhp Billiton recently said it could take six months to get back to full-scale coal production there, and the cyclone could prolong the disruption” (ibid.).

Regardless of Premier Bligh’s attempt to paint Queensland’s triple-whammy weather curse as a natural consequence of its tropical location, there is truly more to this than meets the eye.

Believe it or not, it all bears on the true identity of the people of Australia.

If you still do not know the origin of the English-speaking peoples, you need to prove it, and know it. Then you will understand why the massive weather upsets in the countries they possess. Then you will understand why their crops, their cattle, their mineral resources are being cursed by great weather phenomena!
