Flooding Hits New Zealand

The North Island of New Zealand is experiencing severe flooding today. The island received more than two months of rain in less than two days.

Floodwaters are rising and have already cut off some communities. Residents have been warned to stay indoors. The waters have also saturated farmland and are causing major damage to the area.

“There will be well over millions of dollars that’s gone down the drain today,” said local farmer Ben Smith.

More rain is forecast for the already-flooded areas.
