A Fatal U.S.-German Economic Love Affair
Last year the German government trade and investment elites attended 64 international trade shows. This year they are focusing particular attention upon China, Japan and other Asian markets. Their actions are in cooperation with international German Chambers of Commerce.
The United States ranks number one in German foreign direct investment (fdi) projects, with 133 established in Germany in 2012. A total of 854 fdi projects were initiated in Germany, generating 3,032 new jobs.
Germany is the fourth-largest investor in the U.S., with German companies employing close to 570,000 American workers. In 2010, German businesses accounted for 11 percent of in-sourced jobs, with almost half of those jobs being in the manufacturing sector. As such, German influence in American industry policy has increased. Germany’s presence in the country’s most powerful markets such as New York, California, Texas, Illinois and Pennsylvania reinforces the strength of its economic prowess. German-generated jobs across the U.S. expand the reach of Europe’s most dominant economy in a flagging, spendthrift governing administration amid a highly vulnerable economic climate.
Since World War ii, Germany’s economic ties with the U.S. have grown to the point where today over 100,000 Americans reside, are educated or employed in Germany. With over 40 million locals speaking English, it comes as no surprise that last year almost 2 million U.S. tourists visited Europe’s most prosperous country. Across the country, Americans also work in such fields as science, IT, education, finance and media.
For those relocating, the majority chose to live amid the beauty and prosperity of Bavaria. The U.S. has established more than 50 schools in the country. In addition, there are 30 international schools spread within its borders. The number of students choosing Germany for their higher education grew by 27 percent between 2006 and 2010.
So what’s so bad about this economic love affair? The pages of history are replete with examples of Germany’s nationalistic vulnerabilities, tendencies and proclivities. It wasn’t that long ago that that nation held the world by its throat and Adolf Hitler’s vision of a thousand-year Reich lay before humanity.
Over six decades ago, in February 1945, British Prime Minister Winston Churchill and U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt put their signatures to a joint document stating, “It is our inflexible purpose to destroy German militarism and Nazism and to ensure that Germany will never again be able to disturb the peace of the world. We are determined to disarm and disband all German armed forces, break up for all time the German General Staff that has repeatedly contrived the resurgence of German militarism; remove or destroy all German military equipment; eliminate or control all German industry that could be used for military production. … It is not our purpose to destroy the people of Germany, but only when Nazism and militarism have been extirpated will there be hope for a decent life for Germans and a place for them in the community of nations.”
The Trumpet has repeatedly drawn attention to the clear and present danger of today’s reversal of this avowed policy of the past. Has Germany’s military been disbanded and disarmed, and its armament industry ceased production? Just the opposite. Today, Germany is a world leader in arms production, sales, support and usage. It ranks behind only its prior subjugators the U.S and Russia. Its troops are deployed in Europe, Africa, the Mideast and Asia.
Editor in chief Gerald Flurry has drawn specific attention to the biblical whirlwind prophecy detailing the explosion of German armaments proliferation and Germany’s surrounding of Islamist countries in fulfillment of Bible prophecy (Daniel 11:40).
Economically, Europe’s most powerful nation has already disturbed the peace of the continent and the world through its ferocious fiscal influence on the euro and the financial mastering of its southern and eastern neighbors (Daniel 8:9). Recent overtures from Washington to Berlin to establish a greater economic partnership between the two reveal America’s vulnerability, weak leadership and economic desperation, amid Germany’s ascendancy and opportunism (Ezekiel 23:1-7).
Your Bible prophesies the fatal end of this attraction with, believe it or not, German subjugation of America (Ezekiel 23:8).
