Venezuela’s Stolen Election Will Make America’s Migrant Crisis Worse
Government corruption, food shortages, gang warfare and hyperinflation are forcing millions of Venezuelans to flee their country. Since the ascension of socialist dictator Nicolás Maduro in 2013, more than 7.7 million refugees have fled the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela. The majority reside in Latin America, yet an estimated 472,000 have been granted asylum in the United States.
The Republican nominee for U.S. president, Donald Trump, is warning Americans that Venezuela’s leaders are deliberately purging criminals from their country and sending them to the U.S. This allegation is concerning because the Venezuelan migrant crisis is about to get worse.
An orc Consultores survey conducted in June estimated that 17 percent of Venezuelans intended to leave their country within six months if Maduro won the election. This means that of the 25 million adults in Venezuela’s population, 4 million want to leave now that Maduro has stolen the presidential election. If the same percentage of refugees make their way to the U.S., that means an additional 240,000 Venezuelans will soon be heading across the border.
The U.S. is not ready for an immigration crisis of this magnitude.
Over two thirds of Americans disapprove of how Joe Biden handles immigration. An influx of refugees right before the 2024 U.S. presidential election is likely to hurt Democratic nominee Kamala Harris’s chances by pushing more Americans toward Trump’s border security plan.
When Trump was president, he enacted an oil embargo against Venezuela in an attempt to force Maduro from power. He also negotiated an agreement with Mexico that required migrants seeking asylum in the U.S. to remain in Mexico until their court date. These policies weakened the Maduro regime while keeping Americans safe from Venezuelan gangs. Yet Biden reversed both policies, allowing Maduro to shore up power while Venezuelans poured over the U.S. border.
In other words, by lifting sanctions without getting concessions, Biden strengthened Maduro’s regime to the point where it did not matter if opposition candidate Edmundo González won 70 percent of the vote; Maduro controls the levers of power in Venezuela, so the vote count is whatever he says it is.
Now millions of Venezuelans are desperate to leave their country. This is tragic, but it seems to be the way the Biden-Harris administration wants it to be. Neither Joe Biden nor Kamala Harris has done anything to lessen Maduro’s grip on power. At the same time, Sen. Elizabeth Warren is calling for “comprehensive immigration reform,” including a “pathway to citizenship” for 11 million illegal immigrants already in the U.S. How will Venezuelans respond? They will leave the dictator that the Biden-Harris administration is propping up and come to the U.S., where prominent senators are offering them both amnesty and citizenship.
One Yale University study estimates 16 million to 29 million illegal aliens are in the United States. But the Biden administration wants more. Many analysts think demographic shifts caused by unlawful immigration could turn Texas into a Democratic stronghold. That would mean no Republican would ever win a future presidential election. Democrats could transform the U.S. by nixing voter ID laws that require people to prove they are citizens.
“This is an orchestrated Communist assault on America, to destroy America’s borders, to create confusion in America, to overwhelm the system politically,” Trevor Loudon, a communism expert, told the Epoch Times. “You can see what 15, 16, 20, 25 million new Democratic voters are going to do to this country. You will lose Texas; you’ll lose Florida; you will lose Georgia, Arizona and North Carolina. There will never be, ever, another Republican or conservative president in our lifetimes.”
This should concern anyone who believes in principles like the rule of law, separation of powers, equal protection and civil liberties. The Biden-Harris administration is trying to make Americans accept a socialist government by importing millions of illegal aliens used to living under socialism in their home countries. It is a tried-and-true strategy to fundamentally transform nations.
In The United States and Britain in Prophecy, Herbert W. Armstrong showed how the English-speaking peoples who settled in the U.S. and Britain descended from the Israelite tribes of Manasseh and Ephraim. This means prophecies about Manasseh and Ephraim are directed at the U.S. and Britain.
“Ephraim allows himself to be mixed up with foreigners; Ephraim has become a cake unturned as it was baked. Foreigners eat away his strength, unknown to him; grey hairs are on him here and there, unknown to him. Israel’s pride shall confront and convict them; yet they will not come back to the Eternal their God, nor seek him, in spite of it all” (Hosea 7:8-10; Moffatt translation).
Hosea often refers to the northern 10 tribes of Israel that split from the kingdom of Judah as “Ephraim,” the most prominent tribe, and “Samaria,” the capital. Yet the prophecies of Hosea were spoken to Ephraim and Manasseh jointly, at a time when both tribes were ruled by King Jeroboam ii and his successors. When Hosea says, “Ephraim mixes himself with the peoples,” he is saying foreign immigrants will devour Israel’s strength until the nation cries out to Assyria for help.
This is sobering history, but it is also an end-time prophecy for America and Britain.
“It is time for the American people to wake up!” wrote Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry in his article “Communism in America Today.” “Or is it already too late? … Foreigners are eating away America’s strength, yet we don’t even realize it because we have forsaken God. It is amazing how few people will really talk about what is happening. Our people are sick in their reasoning and are faint of heart (Isaiah 1:5).”
Media reports say brutal capitalism, not socialism, ruined Venezuela; these pundits are like silly, senseless doves (Hosea 7:11-12). It appears the flood of unvetted foreigners pouring across America’s southern border will continue until America is brought down like a bird in a fowler’s net.
