America Is Being Crippled by STDs
A record 2.4 million cases of sexually transmitted diseases were reported among Americans in 2023, according to official data released on Tuesday.
- Five Americans caught an std every minute last year.
- Chlamydia is the most commonly reported disease with 1.6 million cases.
- Nearly 56 percent of all cases of chlamydia were reported among people ages 15 to 24.
- Cases of syphilis have surged in the past 20 years, especially among infants who catch it from their mothers, which is potentially fatal for babies.
Britain also reported significant increases in stds in 2023.
