Assisted Suicide Caused 5 Percent of Canada’s 2023 Deaths

Euthanasia, or assisted suicide, killed 15,343 Canadians in 2023, accounting for nearly 5 percent of the country’s deaths, Health Canada’s annual medical assistance in dying report revealed on Wednesday.

Why it matters: Euthanasia is a growing trend. Britain recently began the process of legalizing the practice.

  • Euthanasia laws have also been introduced in Australia, Austria, New Zealand, Spain and the Netherlands.
  • It is also legal in California, Colorado, Montana, New Mexico, Oregon and Washington.

Details: The reported numbers show a rise in euthanasia’s popularity.

  • Almost 20,000 Canadians requested euthanasia.
  • This was about a 16 percent rise from 2022’s requests.

Around 96 percent of the victims were likely near death.

Prophesied immorality: Euthanasia is murder, according to God’s law. The fact that seemingly sophisticated societies and their citizens are running toward this evil shows how sick this world is becoming.

The Bible prophesied that the nations descended from ancient Israel, which includes Canada, would fall into despicable sins. It warns that the growing acceptance of sin in these nations will have deadly consequences.
