Xi: China’s ‘Reunification’ With Taiwan Cannot Be Stopped
No one can stop China’s “reunification” with Taiwan, Chinese General Secretary Xi Jinping asserted in his New Year’s address on Tuesday.
China rising: Xi’s speech sends a clear message: China will stop at nothing to ensure it controls Taiwan. China’s rapid and drastic militarization signals we are now in an era when China can, and will, force Taiwan into submission.
The consequences of such an invasion could be painful for the Chinese economy, but Xi seems increasingly willing to endure this if that’s what it takes.
U.S. protection: The United States has long been the main defender of Taiwan and the only force that has kept China from invading it. But America’s commitments to the island nation are increasingly in doubt, and Bible prophecy warns us that America has lost its will to stand up to aggressors like China.
Betrayal: In his 1998 article “Taiwan Betrayal,” Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry wrote:
How could anyone fail to see that Taiwan is destined to become a part of mainland China? These 21 million people [now 23 million] are going to be forced into the Chinese mold; and it is going to happen for one reason: because of a pitifully weak-willed America.
