Driver Plows Through New Orleans Crowd, Killing at Least 15, Injuring Dozens
At least 15 people were killed and 35 injured by a man who drove a Ford F-150 into a crowd in New Orleans, Louisiana, on Wednesday morning during New Year’s celebrations. The truck was adorned with the flag of the Islamic State terrorist group. The fbi announced that it is investigating the attack as an act of terrorism.
The attack: Shamsud-Din Jabbar, a 42-year-old Army veteran from Texas, rammed his truck through crowds at 3:15 a.m. on Bourbon and Canal streets.
- Bourbon Street is a well-known nightlife hot spot in the heart of New Orleans’ French Quarter. The area attracts many tourists, especially for the New Year. The city was likely busier for the Allstate Sugar Bowl, which was scheduled to kick off hours later. The game was postponed because of the attack.
The attacker had explosives and guns in his truck. More explosives were found planted in the French Quarter.
Jabbar also injured two police officers in a shoot-out before he was killed.
Finding the solution: Authorities have looked for ways to stop such attacks for years, yet they have failed. That is because they have failed to acknowledge the cause of these attacks as revealed in the Bible. The Bible warns that such attacks will increase unless people accept its message and repent.
