Britain’s Secret Afghan Force
True story: Britain’s armed forces are in the thick of battle in Afghanistan. During surveillance, they intercept some Talibani radio signals. They hear Pushtu, a common Afghan language; they also hear Punjabi, Urdu and Kashmiri Urdu, indicating they’re up against fighters from various parts of Pakistan.
Then they hear something far more bone-chilling: those voices slipping into English—with British accents.
“You get the impression that they have been told not to talk in English but sometimes simply can’t help it,” said a senior British military source.
These are British Muslims, bred and radicalized on British soil, who shipped off to join the Taliban and kill British soldiers in the Afghan war zone. British intelligence estimates as many as 4,000 British Muslims have gone to Pakistan and Afghanistan for military training, and dozens have joined the front lines of the fight. The intercepted voices only confirm a long-held suspicion.
Another confirmation: British-made electronic components found in the remnants of Talibani bombs. The devices, used to remotely detonate roadside shells in attacks on allied forces, must have been either shipped or personally delivered by British Muslims, a military officer explained last month.
Britons fighting Britons. In Afghanistan. It’s happening with such increasing frequency that one officer called it “a kind of surreal mini-British civil war.”
These British soldiers—the ones wearing British uniforms, not Talibani—have simply been betrayed by Britain’s self-loathing cult of multiculturalism.
Their delusional government has insisted that cultural diversity is a virtue, an unmitigated blessing—that it strengthens the country—that it actually protects Britain from Islamist attack. In reality, it has protected the vilest of hate-preachers from interference as they fill thousands of young British Muslim minds with visions of killing their fellow countrymen.
Nevertheless, Britain’s leaders have grown so attached to their politically correct fantasy faith that they staunchly interpret its every failure as further proof that it needs to be adopted with sterner measures.
Here is an infuriating recent example. A British foster mother, who has cared for more than 80 disadvantaged children, lost her eligibility for the job. Why? Because a teenage Muslim girl in her care decided to become a Christian. The government stripped the woman of her life’s work and income in order to stamp out even a whiff of an impression that a government paycheck might have abetted in converting a Muslim teen to Christianity. It also ruled the girl mustn’t attend church for some six months.
Meanwhile, the government considers the raving of Islamists that is demonstrably converting British boys into Talibani foot soldiers as “protected speech.” This even though 97 percent of the imams in Britain’s mosques come from outside Britain—mostly from Pakistan and Bangladesh. The government doesn’t require that they learn English; it doesn’t educate them in British ways. Most of them, the police hasn’t even run a background check on. It basically turns its back and gives them room to recruit.
As Ed Husain, a self-described “reformed jihadi,” recently told the Evening Standard, “The government sends troops to fight the Taliban in Afghanistan but they ignore the Taliban mindset being fostered under their noses in our mosques.”
Actually they do far, far worse than ignore it. They constantly pander to it. They ban any language that might be construed as provocative to Muslims. They demand that police scrupulously honor the most obscure of Muslim sensitivities. They include Hamas supporters on a government advisory board in order to win over radicals. They allow Muslim law courts to trump British judges in deciding criminal cases. They supply multiple welfare checks to polygamous Muslim men. And on and on and on. Such politically correct policies—presumably intended to soothe Muslims—have actively created the fetid conditions in which radicalism has flourished. It is the steady drip-drip-drip of such poisonous policies that has transformed Britain into what one former cia official now calls “an Islamist swamp.”
Because of the freedom with which they operate there, scads of radical groups have planted their headquarters or significant operations in Britain. UK-based terrorists export their bloody business with terrifying success, having carried out operations throughout the Middle East, in several African countries, in Russia, in Europe—even in the United States. Tim Shipman wrote in a recent Spectator article that when a Muslim terrorist attack occurs just about anywhere, British security forces reflexively cringe at the possibility that British citizens were behind it.
Yes, the UK’s love of all things multicultural has made it home to an underworld of the world’s most extreme of extremism. And the most incisive diagnosis of this life-threatening national sickness can be found in an unlikely source.
It was actually pinpointed millennia ago, in a remarkable prophecy recorded in Scripture. Modern Britain can trace its ancestry back to Ephraim, one of the grandchildren of the patriarch Jacob. That Ephraim’s progeny came to inhabit Britain today is an astonishing but eminently provable truth, thoroughly documented in our free book The United States and Britain in Prophecy.
Regarding modern Britain, the Prophet Hosea made this remarkable forecast we see vividly playing out today: “Ephraim [Britain], he hath mixed himself among the people [or, with the pagans] …. Strangers [or foreigners] have devoured his strength, and he knoweth it not …” (Hosea 7:8-9). The mixing Hosea describes is a confused mingling with people of foreign religion that has a corrupting or corrosive influence; the interaction devours the strength of the nation in a way it is too blind to recognize. This weakening state is precisely what Britain is suffering from today—a condition the same prophet elsewhere described as Ephraim’s “sickness” (Hosea 5:13).
Remarkably, the most practical solution to this crisis can be found in the same unlikely source.
Understand, the God who inspired these prophecies is not anti-immigration. At one time, in fact, He governed a sovereign nation that needed a policy in place to address the very issue Britain is grappling with today. And in ancient Israel, God permitted foreigners (“strangers”) to come and live. He established laws to ensure that hardworking immigrants were cared for and looked after, even afforded special privileges signaling the nation’s uncommon hospitality (e.g. Exodus 22:21; Deuteronomy 14:28-29).
The “catch,” however, was that immigrants who expected to live in Israel were required to keep God’s law. They had to respect His holy days (Exodus 20:10; Leviticus 16:29) as well as His statutes and judgments regarding civil life and personal morality (Leviticus 18:26). This ensured national cohesion and harmony, and prevented the corrosive influence of pagan customs.
Here is where Britain’s immigration practices break down so egregiously. They are predicated on the deadly error that more diversity makes for a stronger people, and that the nation can comfortably accommodate any cultural or religious influence—even a direct assault from an extreme religious sect that has openly stated its ambition to destroy its host and take over! Dangerous folly.
As Hosea also said, they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind (Hosea 8:7). It’s a fulfilled prophecy.
Just ask the British soldiers in Afghanistan, ducking fire from their fellow countrymen.
