China Turning the World Against Taiwan
China is succeeding in its attempts to turn the world against Taiwan, the Economist reported February 9.
Why it matters: The Chinese Communist Party (ccp) longs to rule not just democratic Taiwan but the entire world. The fact that countries around the world are siding with Beijing, justifying its efforts to conquer Taiwan, is ominous.
Details: The ccp knows that moving against Taiwan would likely bring major sanctions from the United States and other Western powers against its import- and export-dependent economy. China has studied Russia in an effort to anticipate how to survive this damage.
If most of the world turns to its side, China can confidently attack Taiwan.
- 119 countries, including 62 percent of the United Nations, have backed China’s claim over Taiwan.
- 70 have supported China’s use of “all” efforts necessary to achieve unification.
- These numbers can help legitimize China’s claim over the island in the UN and hurt American attempts to stop China.
Even Malaysia, which has its own territorial disputes with China, recognized Taiwan as a Chinese territory in June last year.
China’s growing sway shows the U.S. is losing allies against one of the world’s most dangerous and powerful regimes.
Prophesied outcome: The Bible prophesies that China will play a leading role in the largest military alliance in history, an axis of Asian nations. Because of this, Trumpet editor in chief Gerald Flurry has said Taiwan will soon fall to China, and the main reason for this fall will be American weakness.
